  • How to Find Your Device MAC or Hardware Address

      How to locate a MAC or Hardware Address in Mac OS X?

    • To quickly find a MAC address on a Mac with OS X, do the following:
    • Open System Preferences from the Apple menu
    • Click on Network
    • Select your currently active network connection from the left menu (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, etc) and then click on Advanced in the lower right corner
    • Look at the bottom of the window for Wi-Fi Address, the hexadecimal characters next to this are the machines MAC address


      • The address is always in the form aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff, looking something like ce:9e:8d:02:1d:e9 or a variation of.

      How to find the MAC or Hardware MAC Address of an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch in iOS?

    • Open the Settings app in iOS
    • Tap on General
    • Navigate to and select the About option
    • Scroll down and locate what is labelled as the Wi-Fi Address
    • The characters next to Wi-Fi Address are the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch hardware MAC address

      • An iOS devices MAC address is always in what looks like a randomized hexadecimal format like 'xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx', with each segment of 'xx' defined as a set of alpha numeric letters, numbers, or both.


      How to find MAC or Hardware Address in Windows 10?

    • a. From Command Prompt
    • The quickest way to find the MAC address is through the command prompt.
      • Open the command prompt. Search "Command Prompt" in the taskbar, or if you have an older version of Windows, you can right-click on the Start button and select Command Prompt from the menu.


      • Type in ipconfig /all and press Enter. This will display your network configuration.


      • Find your adapter's physical address. Scroll down to your network adapter and look for the values next to "Physical Address," which is your MAC address.



    • b. From Network Connection Settings (Find your MAC Address in MS Win 10)
    • You can also find the MAC address by looking at the details of your network adapter in Windows.

      • 1. Search "View network status and tasks" in the taskbar and click on it. (Or navigate to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center)


      • 2. Click on your network connection.


      • 3. Click the "Details" button..


      • 4. Locate the Physical Address. The value for the physical address in the Network Connection Details window is your MAC address.



      How to find the MAC or Hardware MAC Address of an Android Phone?

      Method: - 1

      • 1. Go to Phone Settings.


      • 2. Select Wi-Fi option, which would be available under Wireless & networks or Connections etc.


      • 3. Select Wi-Fi Settings or go to the Advanced option and find out the MAC Address of your android device.



      Note- These options may vary according to the different Phone model.

      Method: - 2

      • 1.Press the Menu Key and select Settings.


      • 2.Select About Phone.


      • 3.Select Status and find Wi-Fi MAC Address.



      Method: - 3


      Please uninstall the app once task is completed.

      How to Register device MAC Address or Physical Address ?

    • Visit the link https://web.iiserb.ac.in/mac/. Login with your LDAP Id/Password and register your device(s). The users are allowed to register only 3 devices.
      The auto script will register your device MAC address or Physical Address.

      • My Internet Still not working after MAC Registration.

    • Do Not register the randomized MAC address. Always use the Device MAC/Physical address Only.

      • Open the Settings app.

      • Tap Network & Internet.
      • Tap Wi-Fi.
      • Tap the gear icon associated with the wireless connection to be configured.
      • Tap Advanced.
      • Tap Privacy.
      • Tap Use Device MAC


      • How to turn off randomized MAC addresses in most devices running with Android, iOS, or WIN OS

      For Android
      Open the Settings app.

      • Tap Network & Internet/Connections and then Wi-Fi.
      • Tap the gear icon associated with your phone network.
      • Tap Advanced and then Privacy.
      • Tap Use Device MAC.

      For iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

      • Open the Settings app, then tap Wi-Fi.
      • Tap the information button next to a network.
      • Tap disable Private Address.

      How to turn off random MAC addresses in Samsung Galaxy devices running with Android 10.

      • Ensure the device is connected to the available network.
      • Navigate to Settings.
      • Tap Connections and then Wi-Fi.



      • Tap MAC address type.
      • Choose Phone MAC.

      How to turn off random MAC addresses in IPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

      • Open the Settings app, then tap Wi-Fi.


      • Tap the information button next to a network.

      • Tap disable Private Address.

  • Connect Computers to the LAN

    Configuration Settings for Windows Platform
    For Windows XP

    • Go to Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> Network Connections >> Local Area Connection >> Properties
    • Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP)
    • Click Properties
    • For DHCP, select Obtain IP address automatically and Obtain DNS address automatically
    • For static IP, Specify IP, Gateway, Subnet Mask and DNS

    For Windows 7, 8 OR 10
    • Go to Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> Network and Sharing Center >> Change Adapter Settings >> Local Area Connection >> Properties
    • For Windows 10 Go to Search >> Settings >> Network & Internet >> Change Adapter Settings >> Local Area Connection >> Properties
      • Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
    • Click Properties
    • For DHCP, select Obtain IP address automatically and Obtain DNS address automatically
    • For Static IP, Specify IP, Gateway, Subnet Mask and DNS

    Configuration Settings for Linux Platform
    • Go to Network Settings GUI
    • Select and configure the Interface
    • For DHCP, select automatically obtain IP address and automatically obtain DNS address
    • For Static IP, Specify IP, Gateway, Subnet Mask and DNS
  • Set/use the nknproxy server for Internet.

    INTERNET EXPLORER

    • Go to Tools >> Internet Options >> Connections >> LAN Settings
    • Check Use a proxy server for your LAN and Bypass proxy server for local addresses
    • Set the proxy server as nknproxy.iiserb.ac.in Port: 3128
    • Click on Advanced Settings
    • In Exceptions, add *.iiserb.ac.in

    MOZILLA FIREFOX

    Open MOZILLA Firefox

    • Go to Preferences >> Advanced >> Network >> Settings
    • Select Manual Proxy Configuration and set the proxy server as nknproxy.iiserb.ac.in Port: 3128
    • In "No Proxy for", add *.iiserb.ac.in

    GOOGLE CHROME

    • Go to Setting >> Advance setting >> Change Proxy settings >> LAN Settings
    • Check and
    • Set the proxy server as nknproxy.iiserb.ac.in Port: 3128
    • Click on Advanced Settings
    • In Exceptions, add *.iiserb.ac.in

    IISERB net is an "open" computing environment which reflects the traditional openness of the academic environment. However we restrict the access from your machine to Internet and vice-versa by using Firewalls and also block access to porn sites.

  • Setup your Personal Home or Group Page account on HOME.IISERB.AC.IN
    For Faculty Use Only

    REQUISITE

    • You must have your LDAP login account
    • Any FTP Client Software (Eg. FileZilla,WinSCP, FireFTP etc.)
    • Web pages related to your Personal Home or Group page.

    Assumed that you have FileZilla FTP client

    • Open FileZilla
    • Now write
    • Host:home.iiserb.ac.in
    • Username:abc(YOUR LDAP ACCOUNT NAME)
    • Password:***(YOUR LDAP ACCOUNT PASS )
    • Port:22
    • Click On Quickconnect

    Output will be like this

    • Now you can see a folder with name www, Just open(double click)it.
    • After this, put your web pages in it by drag and drop or upload your files.

    To access your page on web browser

    • Open your web browser
    • Type the URL :home.iiserb.ac.in/~abc(home.iiserb.ac.in/~YOUR-LDAP-LOGIN)

  • Create email group from individual email account.

    • 1.Login to your IISERB Email Account
    • 2.Click on Google Apps (Top Right of Screen)
    • 3.Click on Contacts
    • 4. Click on Create Contacts or Imports contcts
    • 5. After clicking on create Contact create your contact (input name and Email ID)
    • 6.Your Contacts will show on screen
    • 7.Click on Create Label (left tool bar)
    • 8. give Label a Name and Save it
    • 9. Then select your Contact.
    • 10. Goto manage Label and select the label to add contact to it.
    • 11. Now you can Email to the Group you have Created (Mail will be send to everyone in the group)..

  • Mail Migration from IISER Bhopal account to your personal email account

      Step 1 : NOTE: Go to the bottom of the security setting of Google and Allow less secure apps: ON
      or Go to the Less secure apps section of my Account

      Step 2 :(To be done in your @iiserb.ac.in account)

    • First, set up POP in email
    • On your computer, open Gmail.
    • In the top right, click Setting.
    • Click Settings.
    • Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
    • In the "POP Download" section, select Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.
    • At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.

      • Step 3 : (In the mail account you want your @iiserb.ac.in mail to be migrated in)

    • Import old emails from IISER Bhopal account
    • Open Gmail.
    • In the top right, click Setting
    • Click Settings.
    • Click the Accounts and Import or Accounts tab.
    • Click Import mail and contacts.
    • Follow the steps on the screen to import your old emails.
    • Click Start Import.
